Been hankering to catch a show in NYC? Here are some quick facts released earlier this year from The Broadway League about ticket sales for Broadway shows in New York City during the 2008-2009 season;
- 12.5 Million Tickets Sold
- $943 Million in Gross Sales
- $5.1 Billion Dollars Contributed to the NYC economy
- 36% of show goers are locals, while a whopping 64% are tourists
- 66% of audience members are women, who are also more likely to be heavily involved in making the purchase decisions.
Some more juicy tidbits not shown in the graphic:
- A small group of about 5% of attendees, accounted for 30% of tickets sold (attending 15 shows or more)
- The average theater goer attends more than 4 shows per year
